This site is a documentation of open data and application programming interfaces of Helsinki University library.

Data is open and free to use for everyone with CC 4.0 BY license.

We require that you will not use Helsinki university logo or layout in your service. You are also required to obey the loading limits. Design your queries well and use caching when appropriate. Please send feedback to hulib-dev ÄT helsinki.fi.

Open data glossary

Open data: Open data can be reused freely by anyone, in a machine-readable format, and without paying any fee.
API: Application programming interface, API, is a specification for how software can make requests and communicate with each other.

Helka API

Helka endpoint returns information about printed material in Helka library catalog.

Navigator API

Navigator endpoint returns information about resources in Navigator e-library.

Open Hours API

Open Hours endpoint returns information about Helsinki University Library Open Hours. The response includes opening time and closing time and other details for each day.

Helsinki University Disciplines API

Disciplines endpoint returns information about the Helsinki University disciplines. The response includes the title and other details about each discipline.

Coming soon: Helda API

Helda endpoint returns information about digital material in Helda. Helda serves as a full text repository for research articles and institutional series, as well as for teaching and research material produced by the departments and faculties of the University. The archive ensures long term storage and provides each item with a permanent web address.
